So I'm dropping
bakasaru_chan off at CCSU yesterday and we both have to pause and have a wtf moment. There's a little four-way stop as you enter the campus, with the gym to the right and parking on the left. If you go straight on through you'll head to the main campus, but you'll also pass all manner of plants. CCSU is known for being one of the most beautiful campuses in GA, which means that you have a good view of the lake and the reflection of the various mud-colored brick buildings. There's also lots and lots of flowers. It's peaceful, the sort of place you can see jogging at if you lived nearby. Well at the four-way stop there's a median filled with azalea bushes of various shades of pink. They've been there as long as I can remember, and since I got my AA at CCSU I should know.
The shock was seeing that the campus had workmen out there digging up the azaleas. Correction, I'm sorry. They'd already dug up the azaleas. They were in the process of feeding them into a wood chipper. No, no, not quite right. There was only one poor guy wokring on that project. One poor Mexican guy who's probably way underpaid to dig up a veritable wall of big beautiful azalea bushes and mulch them. WTF?
Have I mentioned that the azaleas had recently been trimmed? This was a well-manicured hedge of azaleas.
I have no explanation for this. It actually makes me rather mad. Why waste something like that? There better be the most goddamn beautiful plants there when I drop
bakasaru_chan off on Wednesday. Those things better have been fucking worth it.
