On the beach (part 1)

This is what happens when you put a roll of expired Fuji Astia (sell-by date 1998) in a Holga, go to the beach and have the film cross-processed.

I absolutely adore these, odd colours, blown-out highlights, sagging horizons, slightly off compositions and all.

Thank you. :-)

Have you tried cross-processing?

The green cast seems to be universal in cross-processing; it doesn't matter which kind of film you use, it will turn out green, anyway.

I think the success of the photos may depend on the colours of your subjects. If you take a look at the pictures above, you'll see that they are mostly of white or very pale subjects. That seems to work -- the photos have a clear green cast, but it adds to the photos rather than detracts from them. However, if you take pictures of very dark or colourful subjects, the green will become very dark, and really rather ugly. So the next time you get anything cross-processed, maybe you should stick to light-coloured subjects...

makes sense - i took photos of garden + plants, all very green of course - usually the lab-tecs are very skilled in printing cross-processed negatives - i made a lot with lomo lca, they've been greenish as well but not that much - thanks for advice
