Author: Mistress_astute

Pairing: Inoobu, Yabudai

Summary: Yabu has been cheating on Inoo with Daiki. Is Inoo ever going to find out? And if he does, what's going to happen?

Note: Hi everyone! I'm so sorry that this took such a long long time but I was busy preparing for stupid major exams... But it's here now! XD Enjoy~

What Daiki said bothered Hikaru a lot, too much in fact, and he could not stop thinking about it on his way home. In fact, it was on his mind all the way till he was lying in his bed as he prepared to sleep.

“Did you think about him at all?”

“I didn’t…”

“I didn’t either.”

Hikaru groaned as the words floated through his head once more. It was true that he was furious at Daiki for doing such a thing, but now that he could actually understand why Daiki did it, he found that he was not as angry as he had first felt. What he could not understand was Yabu. How could he hurt two people so deeply?

Hikaru really wanted to tell Inoo what was going on, but he was afraid that Inoo would not be able to take it. And he was afraid that Daiki would feel even more guilt and regret. He could tell that the younger one was already suffering.

Oh and there was the fact that Yabu would not be able to choose.

Hikaru groaned again. How did things come to this again?

--

“Yo Hikaru!” Inoo greeted as the other JUMP member walked into the dressing room, but he frowned when Hikaru did not reply. He nudged the other one and almost laughed when Hikaru jumped.

“Are you alright?” he asked afterwards when his laughter subsidised.

Hikaru glared at him. “Thanks for shocking me.”

“It’s not my fault!” Inoo defended. “You were spacing out!”

“I slept late last night,” Hikaru admitted and as if on cue, he yawned.

“What kept you up?” Inoo asked in concern as he peered at Hikaru’s face. There were eye circles. Inoo lightly smiled and hit Hikaru lightly. “You should really sleep earlier.”

“I was thinking about…” Hikaru trailed off as he stared at Inoo’s smile.

No… I can’t tell him about it. I must protect him. I’ll protect that smile of his forever.

“I was thinking about our concerts,” Hikaru said in the end.

“It’s still quite far away,” Inoo said with a small chuckle. “But I guess Hikaru’s always so conscientious.”

Hikaru flushed lightly at the compliment and just smiled, too happy for words. Inoo and he continued chatting for the next few minutes, and Hikaru thought that he had never felt happier. It had been a long time since he had a talk with Inoo like this, since Inoo was always occupied with Yabu. Hikaru thought that nothing would break his happy mood but he was proven wrong when Yabu came in the dressing room and started talking to Inoo. And Inoo, of course, started to ignore him.

“Kota, we need to talk,” Hikaru said suddenly. Yabu looked up at him before nodding curtly. Inoo watched the exchange curiously.

“There’s nothing wrong right?” he asked in concern, peering at the other two members. “You two look like you’re angry at each other. Did you two fight?”

“Of course not,” Yabu replied cheerily as he walked towards the door. “I’m sure Hikaru just wants to tell me something important.”

“Why can’t I know about it?” Inoo asked with a pout.

Yabu turned around and winked. “Maybe Hika-chan has a crush and is too shy about it.”

Inoo burst out laughing and Yabu chuckled until he caught sight of Hikaru’s murderous expression.

“Right, we’ll be right back,” Yabu said and dashed out of the door before Inoo could say anything else. The two of them walked to the rooftop in silence, neither wanting to say anything that might be heard.

“What the hell?” Hikaru said immediately after the door slammed shut behind them. “How can you just go up to Kei and talk to him like that as if there’s nothing wrong? As if you’re not cheating on him with his best friend?”

“Right, would you rather I tell him the truth then? Because I am so sure that the truth would make him so much happier,” Yabu retorted in annoyance. “Look, I know you’re pissed off but screaming at me like this is not going to help.”

“So?”

“So what?”

“So what are you going to do now!” Hikaru exclaimed, throwing his hands up in the air in frustration. He stalked over to the edge and stared up at the sky. The day looked too beautiful.

“I don’t know,” Yabu admitted and it took all of Hikaru’s self control to not just throw the older one off the building.

“You’re killing them both,” Hikaru said softly as he clenched his fists. “Maybe Kei doesn’t know it yet but when he finds out, it’ll kill him and Daiki’s already so hurt.”

“I’ll find a way,” Yabu said evenly but his tone betrayed no hint of emotion.

“How?”

“I just will,” Yabu replied. “You’re not going to tell Kei right?”

“Of course not! I lo- ” Hikaru closed his eyes. “Of course not.”

“I know you love him- ”

“But he loves you,” Hikaru interrupted, turning to look at Yabu. “He loves you, so please stop this.” Hikaru did not have to beg. Yabu could see it in his eyes how much he really loved Inoo, how much he was pleading with Yabu to just stop.

“I know. I promise I won’t hurt him,” Yabu said. They could both hear the sincerity in his voice but they both knew that there was little truth in that promise as well, but it was they could believe in.

Yabu turned and walked away, leaving Hikaru behind to stare at the sky that was too perfect.

“If you have to choose, choose Kei,” Hikaru said loudly as the footsteps died away. He knew that Yabu heard him.

--

“Daichan!” Inoo exclaimed delightedly as the younger boy sauntered into the room.

“Inoo-chan,” Daiki greeted happily as he went to sit beside the other.

“My gosh, did you even sleep last night?” Inoo asked as he leaned closer to examine Daiki’s eye bags. “They’re worse than Hikaru’s.”

“Eh? Hikaru’s here already?” Daiki asked, looking around. “Where is he?”

“Oh he and Ko went out to talk about something,” Inoo said mischievously as a smirk came upon his face. “Ko suspects that Hikaru has a crush on someone?”

“Really?” Daiki asked, faking surprise. He knew what the two were really talking about and the thought of it made him as if the day was going to be a very bad one.

“Yeah,” Inoo said in a weird tone. Daiki stared at him. Inoo now had a smirk on his face.

“What?”

“I think Hikaru likes you!” Inoo said enthusiastically and Daiki practically gagged.

“What? Are you crazy? We’re just friends,” Daiki said, pulling a disgusted face. And not mention that he probably hates me anyway…

“You should give him a chance,” Inoo said. “Then you will know how blissful it is to be in a relationship.”

Oh trust me I know…but you don’t need to know that.

“I’m happy the way I am know,” Daiki said.

I’m really not, but you really don’t need to know that either…

“Inoo-chan, can I ask you something?” Daiki asked.

“Go on.”

“What would you do if Yabu-kun cheated on you?” Daiki looked at Inoo closely.

Inoo did not say anything for a moment and Daiki knew that he was thinking really hard about the question.

“I don’t know Daichan,” he said finally. “But I think I might die.” Then Inoo laughed. “You must think I’m stupid.”

“No, no, I don’t,” Daiki replied, forcing out a laughter.

“But I really think I might die,” Inoo continued as if Daiki had not said anything. He turned to Daiki and smiled. “But I don’t think I have to worry, right Daichan? It’s not as if Ko would cheat on me or anything. And well, you’re there for me to kick his ass if he ever does… Unless you’re the one having an affair with him.” Inoo chuckled lightly and Daiki felt uncomfortable all over.

“But you would never do that right Daichan?” Inoo said. It was not a question; Inoo was seeking reassurance, but it was the tone in his voice that scared Daiki. It sounded as if Inoo actually knew what was going on. Daiki laughed, an attempt to hide his fear.

“Of course not! I’m your best friend!” Daiki said, trying to sound as happy as he could.

“Of course not,” Inoo replied with a short laugh. “Of course not. It was a rhetorical question. I know that you would never ever do that to me Daichan.”

“Yeah, of course not,” Daiki agreed before standing up. “I’ll go get a drink. Want anything?”

“It’s fine.”

Daiki walked as quickly as he could out of the room. The guilt would eat him alive if he spent so much as another second in that room with the best friend who fully trusted him. Just then he saw Yabu walking over. He took a deep breath and marched up to the older one.

“We need to talk. Now,” Daiki said firmly, staring up at Yabu.

“Yeah, I was thinking that too,” Yabu replied with a far off look in his eyes.

“Great.”
