Daiki was hurting. That much was obvious, of course not in a literal way. There was no one in JUMP who knew of his, to put it harshly, affair with Yabu. He supposed that Yabu did not tell Hikaru either. Everyone knew that Hikaru still harboured feelings for Inoo and one thing for certain was that Yabu was a great friend, but certainly no way close as a lover.
Daiki sighed for the nth time that day and looked away. He was sick of watching Yabu and Inoo acting all lovey-dovey as they fed each other lunch. He wanted to puke just looking at them. Seeing Hikaru’s reflection in the window, Daiki knew that the latter felt no better than he did.
He rolled his eyes when he heard Inoo giggling. Yabu must have told him some silly joke. It was not that Daiki hated Inoo. He just could not help it.
“You have been looking pissed for the past ten minutes ever since lunch started, would you care to tell me what’s bothering you?” Takaki asked as he sat himself down beside Daiki.
In spite of himself, a smile made a way up Daiki’s lips. Takaki always knew when something was bothering him and he was always there for him. Daiki was glad that he had such a friend and he wished that he could tell Takaki what was bothering him but he could not. What would Takaki think of him?
“Nothing, I’m just thinking of school work,” Daiki replied, smiling.
Takaki gave him a look and he knew that Takaki did not believe him. But Takaki just smiled back at him. He was not one to probe.
“You’re already graduating and you’re still bothered by school work?” he asked instead. “Does the school intend to work you to death?”
“Shut up,” Daiki said and chuckled heartily before pausing.
“Yuya,” he asked tentatively and the other stopped his laughter and looked at Daiki. “What do you think of an affair?”
Takaki was silent for a moment before shrugging.
“Everyone has their opinions,” he replied and turned to look out of the window, a cold look replacing his previous joyful expression.
Daiki felt terrible for making his friend feel that way but he did not know why Takaki was acting like that either. A part of him wanted to ask but he knew that that would just be plain ungrateful. Takaki had not forced him to tell him anything so who was he to question Takaki?
However, he wondered what Takaki was so angry about. It was as if he knew someone who was being cheated on. For a moment, Daiki thought that it might be Inoo but quickly dismissed that thought. Then he got another crazy idea which told him that Takaki was having an affair as well. That, too, was quickly tossed aside.
“Sorry,” he said in the end.
Takaki just laughed as he turned back to face Daiki.
“What are you saying sorry for? It’s not as if you did something like that,” Takaki said.
Daiki forced himself to smile, if only to not let Takaki get suspicious.
‘If Takaki reacts this way just from the question, he’ll hate me if he ever finds out,’ Daiki thought to himself as he glanced at the older boy who was texting on his phone with an unreadable expression on his face.
Yuya, what’s going on?

“Chii, do you think Dai-chan’s acting weird recently?” Ryutaro asked his boyfriend.
Chinen’s eyes widened as he looked at Ryutaro.
“Are you serious?”
“Yes, don’t you think that he looks less happy?” Ryutaro questioned, looking over to the youngest member of BEST. “And somewhat depressed?”
“I think you’re thinking too much! Dai-chan looks completely fine to me,” Chinen answered, glancing at the BEST member as well.
“He does look a little sad now,” Ryutaro commented.
“Maybe he’s just stress,” Chinen suggested, frowning.
Ryutaro shrugged.
“You’re probably right,” he smiled and kissed Chinen on the forehead.
Ryutaro dismissed the matter, thinking that it was just paranoia on his part. What would be wrong with Daiki anyway?
If only he knew...

Lunch break ended and rehearsals started again. It was fine at first, since everyone was almost getting the hang of the new dance moves. For Daiki, it was completely normal until Yabu started brushing against him every time he walked passed Daiki.
Daiki thought nothing of it the first few times since things like that were bound to happen but when it happened too often, Daiki knew that the other was doing it by ‘accident’, especially when the other had on more than one occasion let his hand slide across his thigh. He had to fight so hard to keep the blush down.
Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw Yabu smirking at him and he turned away, immediately to Inoo. The pretty boy was perfectly oblivious of his boyfriend’s doings and Daiki was glad. He definitely did not want to land in a situation when Inoo accused him of seducing his boyfriend.
Though you are. A small voice in the back of his head bugged at him and he pushed it away, annoyed.
“Alright, you’re done for today!” the dance instructor announced. “Go home.”
With that said, Chinen and Ryutaro were the first to rush out of the rehearsal room, closely followed by the other three members of 7. Daiki heard them talking something about an amusement park earlier on and he suspected that that was where they were going though he was slightly put off that they did not invite him.
“I’ll go find Hasshi,” Takaki told them before leaving as well.
Hikaru moaned something about buying a new laptop and asked whether the other three wanted to accompany him. Inoo agreed immediately but Daiki said that he was going to go home. He did not know if he would be able to stand Yabu and Inoo being together any longer.
“I’m not going,” Yabu announced.
Inoo and Hikaru frowned and Daiki felt like punching the older guy.
“Why not, Ko?” Inoo asked, a pout on his lips as he tugged on Yabu’s sleeve.
“I promised my mother that I would be home to help her out with something,” he explained lovingly, kissing the other lightly on the lips. “Go with Hika okay?”
“Fine,” Inoo smiled after receiving a kiss from Yabu and he hooked his arms around Hikaru and dragged Hikaru out of the room, ranting about the new laptop models.
Daiki took his bag and was about to leave when he found himself trapped between Yabu and the wall. He rolled his eyes.
“What? Didn’t you have to help your mother with something?” Daiki asked.
Yabu gave him a look which sent shivers down his spine.
“I lied.”
Daiki pushed past Yabu and strutted to the door but Yabu had longer legs and he reached the door faster, locking it. Daiki looked up at him and snapped.
“What do you want?”
“What’s wrong with you?!” Yabu retorted, as annoyed as the younger if not more.
“Nothing,” Daiki said harshly. “It’s you with a problem. Why did you lie to Inoo?”
“Oh so you expect me to tell him, ‘No, Kei I don’t want to go with you. I want to spend time with Daiki’. Do you think I should say that? Because if you think so, I’ll just call him right now,” Yabu replied simply and proceeded to pull his hand phone out and dialling a number.
Daiki’s eyes widened and he snatched Yabu’s phone out of his hand and stopped the call immediately. It was a relief that Inoo had not picked his phone up yet. Yabu had just made him angrier than he already was.
“Yabu-kun, are you out of your mind?” he questioned, shaking his phone in front of him. “If Inoo finds out, JUMP will never have peace. I’ll never have peace. So stop playing around, literally!”
Yabu sighed and walked over to Daiki, wrapping his arms around the other boy. Daiki stiffened noticeably but did not make any attempt to push the older one way. Yabu placed one of his hands around Daiki’s head and brought his head to his chest.
“I’m not,” he whispered, so sincerely and full of love that Daiki thought that he could cry.
“Just go away,” Daiki whispered.
“Daiki...”
“Please,” Daiki said, more firmly. “Just go.”
Yabu released Daiki and he looked deeply into the other’s eyes. He knew that Daiki was serious. With a sigh, he turned and walked out of the room.
Daiki released the breath that he had been holding and collapsed onto a nearby couch, wondering what was happening to him.
I decided to make this into a multi-chapter, but a short one. I think...
