Review:
Another review that must be done in parts because the seasons differed so greatly, one from the other.
Mitsudomoe: This series was gross, ridiculous, and stupid. Yes, I watched it, but that's because I have no taste sometimes. The gags go on waaaaay too long, and they're not even really that funny. Haha, a hamster named nipples - yay someone overhearing the students talking about stroking Nipples and misunderstanding it. Yeah, not that funny. Out of the original 13 episodes, I recall one of them being funny - episode 7 if I'm not mistaken. This was the kind of series I watched grudgingly, kept waiting for it to get better, and ended up really strongly disliking.
Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu: Then this series happened. I very nearly didn't watch season 2 because of the travesty of season 1, but then I was weak (and honestly kind of bored) and gave in, and ... it was hilarious. Almost like they figured out that the jokes were weak and overstretched or something, the writers for Zouryouchuu came up with shit that was wait-back-that-up-I-gotta-see-that-again funny and managed to keep it up week after week after week. There was one episode that wasn't terribly funny, and it wasn't funny because it went back to the stupid pee-jokes from season one. But then, the following week, it was right back on track again.
I think what makes the two seasons differ is the nature of the humor. Instead of going on and on with the same weak gag, the plot moves along quickly, finding humor in the things children actually do and playing off of that with the stupidity of the adults around them. Not taking adult humor and trying to make it funny by showing it coming out of a child's mouth. I felt like I needed to bleach my brain after watching season 1, but didn't so much with season 2.
Unfortunately, you can't watch season 2 unless you've seen season 1. I keep threatening to go through and figure out the barest minimum of season 1 a viewer would need to fully appreciate season 2, but that would require me to re-watch season 1 and, where I'm a tough guy and can do many things, that's one I've yet to bring myself to actually do.
List of all series I've watched can be found
