I didn't drop .hack//sign intentionally. It dropped itself for me when it was so boring that I was physically incapable of keeping my eyes open while watching it.
The premise is that a kid's gotten stuck in a World of Warcraft-ish game and can't get out. We meet others who are stuck in the game by choice (as in, avoiding real life by playing an online fantasy roleplay game), and then there was some angel who wasn't wearing very much and a bear getting its stuffing ripped out and beyond that, I can report that sleeping in a lecture-hall chair isn't good for your back.
I know lots of folks who really like this series, and I've heard that the music is really good, but frankly, a series that does to my system exactly what too much alcohol does to my system isn't something I'd recommend to anyone (except maybe insomniacs - here, i found you a cure!).
