If I had a quid for every time I've heard that over the last twenty years, I'd be living on my own satellite by now.

hah! Yes, fair point there. Sadly too true that often people think about things.. but never do them.

The internet however is a great tool for promoting this media, be it web comics, new fiction, artists, animation...

I plan to take advantage of it, and if I do not at least TRY to I shall humbly submit myself to you for a prompt asswhooping ;)

Or give you a pound, I dunno, which would you prefer?

I'm hoping that my fanfic writing will cultivate a taste in my readers for whatever I write.

Sneaky fanfic writers, taking niche markets and using them as free advertising!

haha... well at least in those cases often the writer is good, unlike a lot of fanfic ;)

What's your fanfic based on? ST? (I guess from your icon)

My little opus is a saga I've been working on the background for... hmm three years nearly. I originally wanted to do it as a cg animated online series, but that is faaar too much work to start with. I'm scaling down to webcomic I think.. see where it goes.

Actually, I don't think I've written over there for years. These days, I've been doing mostly Harry Potter, with explorations into Lord of the Rings, plus a sole Disney's The Little Mermaid.

I started out in fanfic with some Star Trek, but that zoomed out of control and turned into an original universe with original characters, which was just as well, as otherwise it was going to be a spectacular Mary Sue.

The Little Mermaid huh? An interesting choice.. not heard of fanfic from that before.

My usual reason for writing fanfic these days is that someone dared me. In this case, cadhla said that one of her friends had said to her that writing mermaid sex was hard, and she'd write people some if they wrote her some. I didn't feel like inventing my own mermaids just for a challenge, so I borrowed some.
