Entry 262; Day 60

[Filtered to Megumi's Search Party || Unhackable]
Is there still no sign of her? DS said that he sensed movement, finally, though it wasn't her, and he knew she wasn't dead. That's a sign of something, but it's leading us nowhere. We've searched for days with no success, both above ground and in the Underground, following these trails, seeking out leads--I'm growing tired of it.

We can't simply keep tracing signs of her, not when she's likely in danger. Are we to actually locate who or what DS actually sensed? It can't be that difficult to realise whoever--and I've a fair idea of who--it is that he sensed is connected to her. Are we to actually seek her out or not? Are we to actually find her, or will we just keep amusing ourselves with searching for her?

I'm tired of searching, especially when there are signs leading us to her. If I can get no help in this, I will go alone. And if anyone proceeds to tell me that they've made rescue plans already and excluded me from them, I'll be more than a little angry. After all, I know who these kidnappers are. I've dealt with them before--indeed, I captured one of them before. So do not proceed to tell me that I can't go after them when I am perfectly capable.

Are we to retrieve her or not? That is all I demand to know.

It's embarrassing just looking at the Network today, and never mind going out amongst everyone today.

It's clear that most of you--perhaps all of you--don't know what you're doing.

Yes, of course the idea is that you're trying to be flattering to whomever it is you're speaking, or perhaps enticing, or suggestive. And, yes, it may be a curse, but you sound ridiculous--far more ridiculous than I did when I was obliged to speak in poems. I'm sure at least some of you have the sense to know better than to say these things ordinarily, but I do wonder from what source they come. Someone, somewhere, probably uses them and expects great results by them. He's a fool if he does. If these comments aren't outright lewd, they're just horribly awkward. Really, I shudder on your behalf. At least most of them are amsuing in their stupidity. 'Why does it feel as though the most beautiful woman in the world is in this room?' I doubt that the lady you're admiring will do anything more than laugh at you. If she speaks to you, it's for a lark and probably to tell her friends about you later and all the ridiculous things you said to her. It would be a very foolish, stupid, and easily-won girl who'd fall for these lines. And what enjoyment is there in winning that sort of girl?

It's tiresome to hear it all done wrong, really. There are ways of conversation, far more subtle than this, and I wish you'd the sense to see that. Even ordinarily on the Network, there's a distinct lack of good conversation. These lines today are more rude jokes than ways to open a conversation. I admit, I've used a few tired lines before--paying compliments to a lady when she's angry with me, for example--but there was a purpose there. It was a means to an end, and I certainly knew it was a tired line, though still a reliable one.

I'm not sure I should even bother to keep reading. The whole Network is as pathetic as some lovesick fool crooning, 'Oh my beautiful little bird! Your shining feathers and shining eyes have ensnared me forever.'

There was a fool who said those things once. And, no, his romance did not end as he perhaps wished it would.

If this is how conversation and compliments will degenerate in the future, I want no part of it.

What am I to think of it all today? More than that, what will you think of it tomorrow?

I could keep watching it all on the Network, but I've better ways to spend my day, especially when I've dodged a particularly tiresome curse. I have far better ways to spend my day.
