Entry 243; Day 3

Dec 21, 2008 15:20

Despite all the stories I've heard about last week and everything that went on, it still seems to me like the City hasn't really changed. I'm sure there have been a few arrivals and a few departures, but it seems very much like I left it. That's how it always seems to work here: chaos erupts, but everything falls back into place at the end. I ( Read more... )

You were accused of murder? What an outrage! You don't need to point fingers, I am well aware who might be the source of this brand unfounded slander.

I don't think it will come to anything, Princess.

Who do you think accused me?

Any of the remaining delightful people of your world.

Actually, no. It was Lord Ciel who accused me. Those others from my world seem to find it amusing, though.

So what would you like for Christmas?

To go home again and stay there, I think. But I don't think you can get that in any of the shops here.

And you, Miss Evangeline?

I don't have any material wants.

So you managed to not only leave the city, but just at the appropriate time as well. I wish I we had your luck.

And I thought everyone lost their memories when leaving this place.

It seemed like I was returned to the same place and time. I can't imagine that my being gone for a more than a year and a half would be met calmly.

I certainly didn't remember this place when I was at home. I thought it was all a dream. But I remembered everything once I returned here. I put that down to the City's ways.

Haaah, not only to they erase, or at least not make them recognizable, your memories here, but return you to the point in time they seize you. That would explain how there's only a 5-minute gap in our seizing, yet Nii-san lived here for months.

Tohno Akiha, by the way.

I wouldn't give the 'deities' credit enough to control my world or anyone else's world. I would think their controlling our coming and going, controlling our memories of this place, and returning us to the time we left are the most power they have. It's a sort of loophole for their power.

Cain Hargreaves. A pleasure to meet you. Miss Tohno, is it? Are you related to Shiki at all?

Thank you, He-Who-Kills. I don't think he's too much of a threat, but he is worth watching.

I think he's just a bit jealous...kid's often act immaturely about things.

I don't know why he should be jealous. We're of the same rank, from the same city--even if they're different versions of the same city--and he's far more fortunate than me to have his butler in the City while I'm made to do without.

Whoever really understands jealousy. Just don't take it to heart, no matter how disrespectful it might be. I don't think there is anyone here who knows you that would fall for unfounded accusations. Especially when clear criminals flaunt themselves on the network.

I'm hardly worried about what he's said. Really, I'm more amused by it than anything. I'm sure nothing will come of it and he'll see his folly.
