Apparently there were elections in the USA this week to elect their president. I know this because I saw media coverage absolutely everywhere despite the fact that I wasn't even anywhere near the USA at the time.
What I don't get though is the fact that it appeared as though the announcements as to which of the candidates had won in each state weren't actually being made by state officials or anybody who had anything to do with actually counting the votes or anything. Instead, for some reason, the television and news networks seemed to be the ones who'd announce who'd won, often before the votes had even been counted. Not only that but they'd announce the winner while polls were still open in other parts of the country. Isn't that a bit, well, undemocratic?
Anyway, it does seem to be the case that the person with the most actual votes won this time, so I suppose it worked out for the best. It was a good result for Win in today's Deal or No Deal too. With the help of the quarter-million box on the table, she went away with £30,000.
