Posing for photographs. Does anybody actually enjoy doing this? I suppose they do. Some people -- I believe they call themselves 'models' -- actually do it for a living. But it just makes me feel a bit awkward and self-conscious.
I don't think I'm unusual in feeling this. But it seems that in recent months I've had to stand there being snapped at way more frequently than I'm used to. I found myself having my picture taken again today too, but rather than being required to stand there with a rictus grin plastered across my face the person with the camera asked me to do "something fun" instead. Of course, I'd have had more fun if somebody hadn't have been pointing a camera lens in my general direction but I didn't say that. Instead I put one hand into my pocket, looked off to one side and tried to act a bit cool and aloof. Well, it seemed a bit more dignified than being all wacky and gurning like a mentally ill Timmy Mallett. (Not that Timmy Mallett is actually mentally ill, you understand. At least, I don't think he is.)
Tomorrow I hope to go through the entire day without having to pose for anything. Mahmoud probably had lots of people take his picture too after his game of Deal or No Deal today, since a very strong board meant that he ended up winning a very nice thirty grand.
