Whilst at the Deal or No Deal studios today, I was required to sign an extra release form. This was for an incident which I may be saying more about on 4 January, but probably won't be because any sensible editor would have already cut that footage out of the final programme. So unless you were there you'll probably never hear about it. You wouldn't be missing much.
Anyway, the point is that the first words on the release form are something like 'For the consideration of one pound (£1)...' and then it goes on. One of the other people required to sign the form (nobody I knew) interpreted this as meaning that her contribution in the show meant that she should be paid a quid. I'm no legal expert so I don't know if that's true or not, but she wanted to find out if she was entitled to receive a pound and wouldn't leave until she'd got her answer.
Of course, if it turned out that she was entitled to that small amount of dosh, then I would be too. I was signing another copy of the same release form, after all. But for some reason I didn't feel as though it was worth the effort of hanging around and pestering the crew there for the sake of a nugget. So I just signed the form and left.
I don't know if this person got her pound or not, and I certainly don't blame her for asking about it. But it does seem strange to be making a fuss over such a small amount of money. However, if a supermarket overcharged me even as much as 10p I'd be kicking up a monumental stink about it.
Anyway, the game that was shown on television today featured Sam the lad who hung around in the studio long enough to be given £7000.
