Introductions

Being descended from a long line of Chinese deities it is perhaps only natural that I have a certain Taoist learning in my nature. As such in times of doubt or uncertainty I enjoy nothing more than to reflect of the poorly remembered words of some sage like and mythical ancestor.

In the current case in point whilst contemplating the nature of LiveJournal and whether or not there is actually any point in making entries, I can’t help but think of the sage like words of Lao Tzu:

‘. . . every action has an equal an opposite reaction, and as such should you pose a question to the universe how could it help but respond’

Whilst a very pretty phrase, it does of course fail to reflect the fact that the universe can in fact be considerably more pro-active, and in this particular case go to great lengths to point out that having a LiveJournal without actually leaving any entries is actually a bit rubbish.

Tricky chap this universe!!

Of course one of the other great allegories of Taoism is that of the crystal pool. Namely that the goal of the true sage should be to maintain a mind like a crystal clear pool, which reflects the world perfectly without allowing anything of the world to enter into it and cause it to become cloudy and hence less perfect.

Needless to say, after yet another glorious weekend in Whitby, in the company of friends, fools and pleasant strangers (who look like Becky from a distance and have the good grace to pretend to know who you are when you stroll over to say hello and don’t spot your mistake until too late), and several evenings of perhaps just slight over indulgence, the crystal pool which is my mind is now possibly more reminiscent of a lightly alcoholic punch or even trifle. As an undoubted consequence of this …..cloudiness, I do find myself wishing that the WGW could perhaps have gone on for just a little longer.

Only 5 months and 20 odd days to go I suppose!
