The End, and sort of not

So, it's been about a week now, and i'm still kinda not getting used to the idea, but i've told a couple of folks now and the first wave of shock has begun to wear off...

It's taken just over 2 years (2 years and 4 months to be precise) but i've just finished my first novel. Or more specifically the first draft of my first novel. Or even more specifically 98,600 words of action packed archaeological adventure set in the 1930's, and featuring lions (but not tigers), ancient artefacts, nuns with guns (sort of) and a bit of tour around some of the more pictureque sites of pre-classical bronze age Mediterranean activity.

It's all a bit unnerving, and i suspect the hard work has really only just begun, certainly in terms of trying to flog the aforesaid masterpiece to some sort of all too slippery agent or publisher.

But i have to confess while i started out with the purest of pure mercenary motivations, i've kinda gotten into the routine now, and well... sort of enjoy the writing and the research, and being blessed with a wonderfully short memory for detail as i am, i've even enjoyed reading it from time to time and wondering where the twisty turny plot will go next!

Anyway, once i've had a bit of a go at the old editing lark, and have got the first few chapters up to a good basic standard, i'd quite like to impose upon a couple of folks for a bit of constructive feedback. So anyone interested in the whole King Solomon's Mines, or Indiana Jones genre of reading, please let me know and as soon as i've polished things a bit, i'll stick a few pages in the post.

All the best
Mr S
