moving on up, and moving on in

umm, where to even begin...

quite the weekend. lot's of fun all around. for the first time in around a month i actually stuck it out in new york over the weekend. i gotta say, i'm glad i did.

so kaitlyn (the girl from my previous entry) came over on thursday and we hung out, went to a pool place down steinway and played a few rounds. they stuck us in the corner, we assumed because they thought we'd be obnoxious. well we decided to prove them right. good times. the place was pretty cool though. a lot like a bowling alley (which i haven't done in ages). you just walk in, they give you a table and a set of balls, there's a little phone by your table you can order drinks and food from and you pay when you're done.

friday i headed down to williamsburg to see elena and todd. they were heading to a party down there so i tagged along. wow. this place was crazy. i felt like i was entering a production or rent (or aids for that matter). however, in real life it costs tons of money to live in a place that looks like that, so this place was populated by some very interesting characters. basically from the decor to the attire this place was all about spending a lot of money to look like a 19th century bohemian. hey, if it works for you, then it works. either way, they were entertaining company and good times were had by all.

afterwards there was a need for food and i had my first falafel. i have to admit that my appetite had to be umm, modified for me to attempt this treat, but i am quite happy i did. it was falafel with cabbage, and lettuce, and pickles on top. weird, but good.

saturday jose came by and we had some adventures in ass-toria. we walked down to guitar center where i got new strings for sherrie. also looked at a used acoustic bass. it was really pretty, and i bet with nylon strings on there, it would sound it as well. i like the idea of being able to take it anywhere and be heard. one of these days todd and i will get together and make some happy music. todd also made the great point that i can pretty much show up at any park and find a guitar player that wouldn't mind a bassline. so there's that too.

saturday night i met up with kaitlyn at her friend's bbq, though we didn't stay there too long. we headed down to the knitting factory to see a band that todd knew. on the way there this guy on the subway looked to be in pretty rough shape. kaitlyn totally called it just as he was about to blow. and boy did he. i loved that he put his hands up to try and cover it, but the force of the vomit just pushed through his fingers and sprayed like a fountain. also, this was around 10pm. way to go champ. we get to the knitting factory, the show is pretty decent. went to a bar afterwards, mostly for fried food. the waiters there were assholes, but we had a good time making fun of them.

sunday. i'd been meaning to clean my apartment for a while, which i finally got around to. jose stopped by with a blunt, so there was a nice break in there. got all my shit together and kaitlyn stopped by. we ended up watching bits of a few movies, playing a round of lord of the rings trivial pursuit (at her request, gotta love this girl), and just talking for a long time. i eventually brought up my interest in her and my understanding that this was an "out of the box" experience for both of us to varying degrees. so we shared our respective viewpoints on where we were and how we got there. it was so amazing to talk to someone i could really identify with. usually when i'm giving my lecture to people they say it makes sense to them, but to have someone who's going through exactly what i went through, amazing.

i'll stop with the details there, but let's just say i'm a happy man, with a wonderful girl. nothing major major happened, but yeah, i'm a happy man.
