Just left a 2 hour class on how to be nice to our co-workers. This things may have scored a perfect 100 on the Unintentional Comedy Scale.
Was loopy to start with off, then we find out it's at 8:00, not 7:30 am like my dept. told us. Things got crackin' (and I use that word deliberately) with "What Happens Here, STAYS HERE". Don't know who would sue for trademark infringement first, the Las Vegas Tourism Board or Tyler Durden.
Then we can't talk about managers. Lost 85% of my material, though hearing how many times her name came up anyways was seriously entertaining.
Remember when Steve Bushemi is looking for the little orange flag denoting his hastily stashed briefcase full of ransom money in "Fargo", only to encounter endless stretches of white powder? You can either shovel though all that snow, or say the hell with it. Guess which one was chosen.
We were asked, "What do we have in common?" One guy: "We don't want to be here today?"
My associate Carey didn't help matters by creating some of the worst rearranged titles ever in "class". Let's just say that making a squirrel your mascot and beginning a chapter with "M.E.E.T." is plain asking for it.
One of the videos starred a 50ish ultra white guy loudly referring to saving money as "Jewing 'em down". He gets "TV Gently" reminded that his actions may be offensive, to which he replies, "Hey, Bob, I didn't get offended when you kept calling things a Mexican standoff! And I'm part Mexican!" Controlling the eruption of laughter at this point was very difficult. Our poor instructor.
The coup de gras was the final video scored by one of Yanni's less talented cousins. Simple yet effective, it featured a black screen with huge white letters featuring slogans such as "Be Kind" followed by a 3 second pause, "...To Others" instead of what I was already thinking, "...Rewind". Started tearing up I was giggling so hard. If they'd have flashed "We Shall Overcome" or shown the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima or the "I Have a Dream" speech, death by laughter would have been a serious possibility.
Time to catch a nap and let the buzz wear off. Head feel so light...
