Thanksgiving
So I am very, very thankful this Thanksgiving for video chat. With Mom gone, I always worry about Dad near the holidays since he lives alone, and especially this time of year as Mom's birthday was last month (she would have been 62) and their anniversary is coming up next month. But, my brother did me proud.
He has a girlfriend, who's been very involved with going to visit Dad at least once a week, which kinda won me over from the start, but I finally got to "meet" her today, as the Internet Connection Gods were smiling on our little family. Previously, me, Dad, and Mom had absolutely loved his last serious girlfriend, and we haven't really liked anyone since. But, seeing how she interacted with Little Brother and how comfortable Dad was with her, as the Big Sister and sort of matriarch of our little band, she definitely has my 100% approval. It was nice to see Dad bustling around, cooking things and in general pretty happy. Not to mention also my brother.
Me, well, we'll be doing an American Thanksgiving on Saturday, comme d'habitude, since, obviously, no one is available during the week in France.
