With over 30 incarnations at festivals across Australia, Rapid Fire has been the early proving ground for many of well known queer writers. Likewise, it remains a great place for established writers to hone their skill and edit their work to the demanding six-minute limit.
Rapid Fire’s recipe for success is simple: give 12 writers six minutes each to read, with the order drawn from a hat on the night; and ensure that merciless technicians are on hand to turn off the mic if they go over time. This formula provides the perfect platform for writers to refine, condense and edit a story, while providing ample time to display their literary brilliance. A win for writers and the audience.
