Yesterday, on
Ravelry, the women from one of my local Stitch-n-Bitch groups did our own little "flash your stash" for April Fool's day. Basically, you take out all of the yarn you have stashed away, lay it all out and take a picture of it in one shot (if you can). I was among the members who participated, and since I put the pictures up on Photobucket, I figured I'd share them here as well.
A picture of the stuff I brought up from the car:
The stash I keep in my room:
And now, behold, teh stash:
I tried to arrange it in a colour wheel, but since a good 1/3 of my stash is purple, that didn't quite work out. Some skeins are still attached to UFO's (unfinished objects) or projects I intend to frog (it's called frogging because you rip-it, rip-it, rip-it), but I managed to hide them under the yarn.
If it seems like a lot, I learned from this exercise that my stash is actually pretty average. A small portion I got from friends and/or family as a gift. Aside from that, I'd say it's actually pretty close to 50/50 stuff I bought and stuff I snagged while friends were de-stashing.
Also, Ravelry is allowing us to open up projects to be viewed by the public. The default is still for everything to be visible to Ravelry members only, and you have to open up each project individually to the public. I'm slowly but surely doing that. Here are a few that I've opened to the public already:
