Chris Kent's erotic schoolboy stories

Hey, slashers, have you heard of the pseudonmyous Chris Kent? You might be interested in his erotic schoolboy tales. I generally do not enjoy gay erotica except slash, probably because gay erotica is nearly always written by men, for men, and slash is nearly always written by women, for women. But I think Chris Kent transcends the author/target audience stereotypes and anyone who likes boy-on-boy action will find his tales enjoyable reading.

One thing that makes these tales different, and maybe more convincing, is that they are based on the author’s own experiences at private boarding schools in England. Although Chris Kent’s keeps his true identity a closely-guarded secret, so there’s really no way to know if he is writing from his own recollections, it seems likely to me, from the few stories I’ve read. They don’t read like made-up fantasies but like someone’s real sexual experiences. Kent has really captured the innocent curiousity of adolescent sexuality. And that’s where I have to add a major, major warning. Chris Kent does write about schoolboys, some are just barely at the age of sexual maturity. He depicts them having sex with older boys and occassionally with adults. The boys are always written as the randy instigators, so it’s not like he writes about adults who rape children-far from it. But there’s no two ways about it: the actions he describes are against the law and perhaps they are immoral, and some people will frown on that. So if it’s not your cup of tea, please don’t follow the links.

I generally avoid slash fiction where one character is adult and the other is a child. It doesn’t turn me on. Two underage kids, that’s fine, not really my thing, but it doesn’t repel me. But an adult and a child or teen? No, thanks. However, Chris Kent is an exception. I don’t know how he does it, but he writes in such a way that it doesn’t send me running. I think it all relates back to the fact that he writes from experience. Some of my sexual experiences as a teen were with older guys, and on paper, it seems terrible that a 16-year-old would have sex with a 20-year-old. In actuality, it was a beautiful experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Illegal, maybe, but beautiful to me.

Chris Kent has really captured what it’s like to be a teenage boy-not that I have any standard by which to judge, because I am and have always been a woman, but it reads true to me. Consider this passage:

He opened his eyes, looking up at Alex who was leaning over him. Alex was grinning. Toby frowned, then smiled, too. Alex was beautiful. He had never noticed that before, but now he did. Alex was really beautiful. There are gold flecks in his eyes, gold green flecks.

Yes, it is preceeded by some very explicit pornography, but Chris Kent does offer the reader more than just thrills. The first time a boy notices that another boy can be beautiful…wow, that’s a significant moment in a young man’s life!

Chris Kent is published by GLB and all his works are listed on this page: http://www.glbpubs.com/ebindexss2.html You can buy them direct from the publisher or download the e-books….I think they even sell individual short stories. If you click on the book titles, many of them have excerpt chapters available and some of the free samples are pretty hot. All of them are interesting, it is definitely sex with a plot although I won’t kid you, it’s quite filthy. However, reading Chris Kent, I learn about teenage boys, not just about teenage boys’ sexuality. That just happens to be a huge component of any teenage boy. But he does write whole characters and not sex-crazed one-dimensional automatons. It is vaguely reminscent of Victorian pornography, because the English sexual slang that was in use in the 19th century is still widely used today (unlike American slang, which has changed a great deal).

By the way, I have read a lot of English pornography, because I do not like modern pornography (except slash). I don’t enjoy the language of new porn; the Victorian erotica was sweetly woven, with some attention to the actual sound of the phrases. Most modern pornography is not as well crafted. I particularly enjoy Victorian bawdy journals like The Pearl. If you’ve read my two slash stories, you may have noticed an excess of the word “stiff” in them (along with excessive use of the word “groaned”…ack, sorry readers, will try to hit the thesaurus this weekend.) But my excessive use of the word “stiff” is a habit I picked up from vintage English porn, particularly gay erotica. If you read Chris Kent’s books, the boys use the term “stiffy” constantly, I guess the way American teen boys might use “woody” or whatever it is that boys use to describe that thing in their pants. Anyway, just in case you were wondering, that is why my stories have such a profusion of the word “stiff.” I really need to think of some new words or at least catch myself before I write about the umpteenth “stiff” cock in my stories!

But Chris Kent pulls it off better than I could, because they are English schoolboys and presumably would use the term “stiffy” a hundred times a day. So, if you aren’t put off by the underage thing, check out Chris Kent. Porn though it may be, I think it is rare to find such well-written gay porn that actually has a plot. I believe the first in the series is The Real Tom Brown's School Days: An English School Boy Parody which takes it’s title from the classic English schoolboy “moralistic” novels about Tom Brown and his pals. Check it out on Amazon, where you can find almost all his titles and most have been reviewed. Some readers were outraged; others left breathless, so I guess it’s for you to decide:

The Real Tom Brown's School Days: An English School Boy Parody

Boys In Shorts

The Ram Stam Boys

Boys Will Be Boys: Two novellas (Little Big Men and Coral Island Boys)
