Nietzsche's philosophies look at religion and alchohol the same way: they may sedate you for a moment but they'll never get you anywhere in the long run. my mom has chanted "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" (and also worn it on a t-shirt) since as long as I can remember and some how has managed to apply it to every single horrible aspect of life.
