Nietzsche's philosophies look at religion and alchohol the same way: they may sedate you for a moment but they'll never get you anywhere in the long run. If you have an issue as opposed to using the energy of failure, poverty, depression, etc... to go to church and momentarily hide the problem, you should use the energy that it gives you to overcome it.
