A moving Christmas Eve...

Last wednesday, my parents arrived to our house for a wonderful Christmas visit. The last time they were here, I was in the hospital for the birth of my beautiful baby girl (who turned 10 months on the 23rd).

We had a wonderful visit this time. Much better than the last with all the stress and pain and not getting to see them much since I was in a hospital. We had delicious food maeuschen planned and executed most of the meals. Very very yummy!

All week, Kaitlyn tried to walk on her own. She'd take little half steps then give up, or fall down. We knew she was so close to walking! My dad was determined Kaitlyn was going to walk while he was there, so he too encouraged my little girl to let go and move. We kept cheering her on. So, on Christmas eve day, she rewarded us with 2 real steps in the morning. We all were thrilled. A little later that day, she got down from the couch and, on her own, walked about 6 steps to pick up a toy of her brothers. Since then, she's been doing little trips here and there. She still gives up some of the time, but she usually averages about 4-6 steps each time, sometimes more, sometimes less. She is getting very strong at standing without holding onto anything except maybe a toy of her own that she shows us. She can even clap while standing there and move her arms. She's bent down and picked up some things and stood up.

So all in all...my 10 month old daughter is walking. We are thrilled, even though I know I'm in even more trouble now! What she couldn't reach before (not that she couldn't NOT reach much), she'll be able to reach soon.

I also had a beautiful visit with my parents and look forward to another visit soon. I miss them already (they left yesterday morning) and so do my children. Yesterday, Kaitlyn was moved back into her room (she bunked in our room and her brother's room during their visit) and when I put her on the floor, she crawled out to the hallway, looked down the stairs and called out " AHM MA!" (grandma!) She was looking for her grandma!

I'm not sure I've mentioned before that she's picking up a lot of words. She often calls out for her brother "Bruh Bruh" and of course, Dada and Mama. She knows Book, Ball, Papa, grandma (AHM Ma), bye bye and a couple others I can't remember right now. She started blowing kissed just this week too. What a big girl! I can't believe her year birthday is in less than 2 months! Time has flown.
