My Bahamas Adventure Day 1: I have made it thus far.

It was an adventure getting to Fort Lauderdale to say the least. The flight to Nashville was uneventful until we got to BNA airspace. There had been thunderstorms that we had to fly over. So much so, they stopped service (we got our drinks but only a few rows got peanuts, not mine) and made the attendants sit down. Our pilot was awesome and on any other flight the "turbulence" wouldn't have been mentioned. Well, everything was backed up at BNA, so we flew in a little circle for about 20 minutes. The pilot came on and said we had plenty of fuel and were just waiting our turn and turned off the seatbelt sign. We got in 20 minutes late and my next flight was suppose to take off 10 minutes from then.

It was also delayed. Supposed to be by a half-hour. We were ready. The plane was ready. The flight crew wasn't there. Once they finally got there we could board. Then once we got on, the pilot said we hadn't waited long enough. Actually we were waiting for some bags to transfer. We took off way late.

Before I even left Columbus, I was not feeling well at all, so dinner consisted of a Frappachino before the first flight, two ginger ales (one on one flight and one on the other) and a cup of water, and the peanuts and pretzels on the second flight. We were due to get in a 10:20. We got there at 11:30. I was concerned because the courtesy shuttle to the hotel only ran until midnight. Mine was the third bag off! Made it in plenty of time and was the only person on the shuttle.

I got all checked in and found that there was only one room further from the elevator than mine. But I got a big cushy king-size bed to myself, so it didn't suck. And the shower was great. What was a surprise was that they charged for Internet access. I was weak and sprung fro the cheapest option since I got a good discount on the room.

The bed was wonderful even though the room never really cooled off. And people of Florida, we need to have a talk. How can you live in this? It's hot and humid and isn't only the beginning of summer! How do you live? It may not help I'm the biggest heat wimp alive, but still! I have naturally curly hair! It is currently not very happy! And the heat indexes for Freeport! I may only leave the hotel for the wedding! (You think I'm joking. I can't breathe in humid air. I over-heat very quickly. Not pretty.)

Had to be out of the hotel by 11:00, so I got the airport really earlier. Checked in with no problem and have had lunch at Chili's (which I normally wouldn't do but there's like no options here). It was a nice piece of salmon and I got a cup the baked potato soup.

This airport does not believe in easy to find outlets. Grr. But the 'net access is free. This will not be the case once I get the hotel. There is a business center where the access is free if you use there machines. There is wi-fi in the rooms but it costs. We'll see how week I am. May move into the business center for the late nights. We'll see. As I said, not a fan of the heat.

To say the least, I'll be scarce the next few days. You can try to contact me, but don't be surprised if I don't get back to you until Sunday or later.
