Everybody seems to do slide shows at their wedding these days. I love watching them - it's fun seeing the bride and groom as kids and stuff - but I wanted to do something a little different for ours.
That's why I was thrilled when Mark presented his idea to me. So we built up a 4-foot "tripod" with empty boxes leftover from the shower, and pointed the camera at a blank wall in the otherwise empty dining room. We gathered some props and took pictures of ourselves with them.
Mark found some really great scenic pictures of pyramids in Egypt, the Taj Mahal, a famous golf course in Europe, Antarctica, Hawaii, etc, and then he photoshopped us into the pictures.
So after pictures of Mark growing up, and pictures of me growing up, and real pictures of the two of us together, we'll show these works of art. I especially love the one of us at the Taj Mahal, where I wrapped a colorful beach towel around Mark's head like a turban and he photoshopped a red dot on my forehead. And the golf course one, where Mark has just executed a swing and I'm holding his bag of clubs and we're both looking off into the distance with a look of awe on our faces. Ooh, and the one where we're wearing snorkel masks and we're underwater (fully clothed) with sharks circling above us. I love his imagination :)
Mark's co-workers threw the nicest shower for us yesterday. They ordered some food and a cake, had a few games, and gave us some presents, which was all great, but they are all so nice it almost brought me to tears. I had only met a few of them before, so it was great to meet the rest of the group he works so closely with. And I really loved the tool set his boss gave to me "for the honey-do list". I love his company and the people he works with - I wish everybody could be so fortunate.
The big day is almost here! I can't wait :)
