I'm still searching for reception songs, and I'm finding lists of suggestions all over the place. One even suggested the Star Trek theme for the grand entrance of the bridal party into the reception. haha
It sucks wading through most of the same songs over and over - From This Moment, Shania; Have I Told You Lately, Rod Stewart; I Will Always Love You, Whitney; Valentine, Martina McBride - they're sweet songs, but just not what I'm looking for.
Another list mentioned First Time Ever I Saw Your Face by Roberta Flack, and it reminded me of when I was little. I always loved listening to my mom when she played the piano, and I was fascinated by all of the sheet music that filled the hollow piano bench. When she wasn't playing, sometimes we kids would flip through it - and we'd always dissolve into giggles when we saw that one by Roberta Flack. The front is a full page portrait of her, and she has rather large hair. "No wonder nobody's ever seen her face, with hair like that!" It's funny how the dumbest things can be so amusing when you're young...
I love the song Love Will Keep Us Alive by the Eagles. Woman by John Lennon, and In My Life by the Beatles are a couple other favorites of mine. Maybe we can throw those into the cd player this weekend and have a practice round to see what feels right. We've already done that with a few Norah Jones songs, which were beautiful, but not "perfect". Oh well, it's not like I mind slow dancing with Mark in the empty dining room...this will be a fun process :)
