I guess it's about time for a proper update. I just had a great evening with Charles. I didn't get a meal plan this semester and, in turn, we haven't been spending as much time together. I made a roast tonight though and invited him over. Afterwards, we walked over to the library, checked out Broken Hearts Club, stopped by 7-11 for some cheap booze, and watched the movie. Good times. I had forgotten how good that movie is and he hadn't ever seen it. It was definitely a good choice.

The evening ended with me reading Dr. Seuss's The Butter Battle Book. I'm taking American Lit this semester and our teacher picked out a pretty decent poetry anthology for us to use. As a result, I've been reading poetry outloud to myself. A discussion on a message board about Dr. Seuss caused me to want to check out some of his books and so the mood was set for me reading Dr. Seuss out loud. Oh...such good stuff! I'm such a geek though. My step-mom and sister got me a "Big Fish" stuffed animal (Big Fish, like the Big Fish in One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish) and I totally sleep with it at night. Yeah...I'm a cool kid...

My laptop power cord has decided to stop working, so I'm doing a lot more reading these days. The CCM office is on the first floor of my house, so I use that computer for my general online putzing (still waaaay to much putzing around going on for me to be properly productive), but I've still done a lot more reading than I normally do. It's odd, I used to read so much. Technology makes it way to easy to get out of the habit of reading actual books. I rue (sp?) the day that e-books actually make it. I'll never get anything done. My online putzing and my leisure reading will overlap and I'll become the least functional member of society ever.

As far as books, I've started reading The Rule of Benedict. It's kind of like a basic living guide. Benedictine and Cistercians follow it, but it also is good for day-to-day living. It's set up to be read like a devotional, a little bit each day. Right now, I'm on the part that talks about humility. Totally causes me to rething how I view humility. I believe the phrase, "Like, wow!" is what I'm looking for. The full text is easily found online. It isn't a bad read and I recommend it to any Christian (it quotes a fair amount of Christian scripture, which is why I recommend it just to Christians, but really the message is applicable to anyone). Of course, I want to be a Benedictine, so I'm probably biased.

Nothing new happening with my life really though. I'm slowly overtaking CCM. Just kidding. :) Our campus minister is a full time student this semester (18 hrs!) and so I've been helping out a fair amount as the student minister. CCM has changed so much since I first arrived at Radford. I'd love to know how new freshman view the current manifestation of CCM.

Anywho, I'm getting sleepier and sleepier with each passing minute (no, it's not that I drank too much! I only had one bottle of Arbor Mist-equivalent to a beer and a half or something ridiculous like that...yay for cheap wine!). I believe I'm going to bid you good night.
