Stepping Down from EGL
Tonight, I'm officially stepping down as administrator of egl, and writing the announcement post for the handover is much harder than I thought it would be. I'm normally quite good at writing official posts and business letters, but this one isn't coming out so easily.
Did you know that I've been admin of egl for fully five years now? Here's a funny little piece of the past for you, my first post as admin. Note how I mention, "long gone are the days of bitter flame wars and elitists alienating other members." If you're active on the community these days, you may find it amusing that I was filled with so much optimism about such things.

I feel like I should get a bow-covered gold pocket watch to mark my retirement. Instead, I think I'll just go out for drinks tomorrow night.

EDIT 2: Anyone want to get together with me for drinks on Saturday to celebrate? Is there anything else going on this Saturday night?
