Hey, poem and home rhyme. I just realized that...CX
Anyway, this is a poem that I performed at GIV in front of the 59 other students plus numerous staff and guests. I, personally, don't really like it at all. It's far from my best poem, but in the little free time that I had, it was the best I could do. Anyway, here it is. Please be kind, even though it's not my best.
I want to have a say
I want to have a voice,
So I can help make a difference
I know I am powerful.
I want to unite
I want to work together
So we can make it better
I know people are powerful.
I want leaders to serve
I want the world to know
For me, for you, for us
I know peace is powerful.
I want education
I want to be informed
So we can learn from things like war
I know knowledge is powerful.
I want to get involved
I want to really act
So I can help change the world
I know empowerment is powerful.
I wrote this as my camp, Govenor's Institute for Current Issues and Youth Activism for a workshop called Forum Theater, where we chose an art form and made a final product that we presented on the last day to the rest of the camp. I loved it. And although I'm terribly sorry to be leaving the amazing friends I made there, I'm not sorry to be home at last.
I learned so much there, about myself and what I was passionate about, about the world around me, and about I could be a part of it. One thing I'm extremely passionate about is human trafficking, especially as it relates to the U.S.A. Human trafficking is, essentially, slavery. And believe it or not, it's common in the U.S, especially Atlanta, Georgia, which is called the human trafficking capitol of America. But I'm most concerned with the fact that in my state, there are no state laws against it, so police aren't trained to deal with it and my state is an easy target for these traffickers. Work in your state to make sure that as much as possible is being done to stop modern day slavery.

On another, much happier note, the Harry Potter release in America is.......NEXT WEDNESDAY!!! My favorite movie theater is having a midnight release party showing Tuesday into Wednesday and I'm going with two of my friends. Sorry, had to say that.
