Okay, we all know by now that Michael Jackson is dead. I like his music, even if I don't like him all that much, or his choices. I think he creeped a lot of people out, but he did have a family and siblings and people who are going to miss him. I'm sick of people saying online how glad they are that he's dead. It's one thing to not really care, because there are a lot of people who I wouldn't care if they died, but to be happy? That's wrong, that's a little much, don't you think? He was a person, and while he may have been an uncomfirmed pedophile, he didn't do something so wrong to be happy he's dead! He's not Hitler, for Christ's sake. I wouldn't care nearly so much that he was dead if it wasn't for the fact that so many people were happy.
Speaking of extreme, inappropriate emotions, I'm getting sick of fans and anti-fans alike. I mean, I have no problem with expressing your opinion. I've done it myself, but the crazy fans and anti-fans are just out of control. No one, fan or anti-fan, has a right to insult the series to the fans. It's uncalled for. If you don't like it, don't read fanfics or watch fanvids or look at fanart just so you can comment or review saying how terrible the fandom or the characters or the pairing is. It's stupid! Complain about it, insult it, by all means. But do it with those who agree with you, not to people who are going to get insulted.
And the same goes for the fans. If you know you won't be able to handle it, don't look at anti-fan art or fanvids, and don't go to anti-fan sites just so you can tell them how upset you are that they don't like your favorite book. It's pathetic. Just because you like it or don't like it, doesn't mean that you have the right to tell people how they should feel about it. I'm an anti-fan of a few things, and yes, I go to sites to talk about why I dislike them, but I don't do it to the fans. And I'm willing to admit that there are things that are worse.
My point is, just live and let live. If you like something, that's fine. Let other people dislike it, and don't take anything involved in the fandom or the anti-fan stuff too seriously. They are just expressing an opinion. The same goes for the anti-fans. Just accept that other people really like whatever you dislike. There is no reason for such epic arguments and fights online where you end up insulting people rather than the series. Don't take yourself, your favorite things, or the fans or anti-fans too seriously. It's pathetic.
