it took three days for my father to turn me into a football fan

It was my father's idea to go to a UNM football game because they were playing against SDSU. At first, it was totally one of those tight-lipped, "Sure Dad, that sounds like a great idea ... " kinda things but, much to my surprise (and chagrin), I wound up more than enjoying myself. And like ... actively participating in the cheerleading, which, with my undying loyalty to all that is Californian, could be rather awkward.

Seriously. When something went right for SDSU I was the only one cheering, although with how NM completely and utterly wiped the floor with SDSU's asses, those moments were few and far between. Additionally, I was the only one griping when the referrees (the blind, idiotic referrees) said SDSU didn't get something when they totally did. (I'm not familiar enough with football to actually remember what that thing was. And, actually, generally only knew when to cheer by whether or not the SDSU players were jumping up and down or not.)

Then we got home and I was actually psyched to watch the USC/Notre Dame game. Little did I know that I would fall in love with not only the sport, but also a certain Hottie McHotster named Brady Quinn - tall guys with dark hair just do it for me and I'm beginning to think it's my only qualification ... Anyway. Football is brutal - how these men live past 25 is a miracle to me and, oh, how they'll pay for this later in life.

Where was I meaning to go with this? Ah, yes. I'm pretty sure my loyalty will generally always lie with the underdog, cause I was totally with USC until they starting whooping ND's (and the pretty, pretty man's) butt. There's something so amazing about seeing that team, for which everyone else has given up hope or never had any hope for to begin with, come back with an unexpected and amazing victory. Not that that happened in either game I invested myself in today ... So, really, I'm setting myself up for disappointment.

I'm going to miss my father terribly.

dad, sports
