Sick

So on Sunday when I went for my visit with Aidan, he had a bad cold and was extremely cranky. But in between the bouts of cranky he was his usual cute self, and at one point very intent on playing one of his favourite games, which involves him picking up a wooden block by one corner with his teeth, then leaning over to me and expecting me to take ( Read more... )

Thanks - I'm definitely enjoying the S'n'Bs.

I just hope I didn't give everyone the cold that at point I didn't know yet that I had... I didn't start feeling the scratchy-throat feeling until after I'd gotten home, and didn't feel full-on sick until today.

Our family has found that Echinacea and Golden Seal work well in the early stages of a cold.

Thanks - don't have those at home currently, but if I feel well enough to drag myself out to the health food store later maybe I'll get some.

I do have oil of oregano, though, which other people have recommended, so in the meantime I'm just taking that and extra vitamin C.

Sorry you're sick. Is riding in the rain dangerous, difficult, or just yucky?

A bit of all three. Roads are slippier, more chance of falling, cars as well as bikes taker longer to stop when they put the brakes on, visibility can be less, plus if your bike does not have fenders (as mine does not yet, that was an accessory I failed to get), water and mud from the streets sprays up from wheels and gets all over you.

Experienced hardcore cyclists might ride in the rain anyway, but I am trying to be conscious of my limitations due to being out of practice and not an overly skilled cyclist even back when I last had a bike.

I do want to get some fenders though. Maybe next time I'm at CT.
