Sitting under the dryer @ the salon seems to be the only time I'm unoccupied enough to want to write here. The urge hits me other places, but then there's the sink that needs to be fixed, the phone that needs answering, or the headache that just won't go away.
I'd like to say that I've been tremendously busy these past few weeks, but that's a lie. I've been watching my money, eating out less, and cooking more, though. That just takes a little thought and planning. I don't want to become as rigid or anal as Kate Gosselin, but I know that I'm happier, calmer, and more productive when I make a plan and stick to it.
After living in a house where food was delivered or purchased from a warehouse club once every three months, the stored in the deep freezer, I was always amazed that people really went grocery shopping every week. Even when MIKE was there, I always shopped for a family of 4, even when it was mostly just me eating. Add to that the fact that I ate out no less than six times a week... The food would either be bad or freezer-burned before I got around to even thinking about it.
Now, I cook about 4 times a week. On the days I don't, I eat leftovers or something that just needs microwaving. Bagged salads are a God-send for me, even if they are full of julienned carrots. I can take a couple handfuls, add some fat-free italian, and get halfway full before I even hit the protein or carbs.
I'm also drinking about 2 liters of water a day. The perfectionist in me can't stand to have bottles unemptied, so, instead of 8 cups or 4 little bottles, I drink a giant Fiji bottle (about 48 ounces) + a Deer Park smaller bottle (16 ounces). I must have been dehydrated my entire life before this, because I've never been in the bathroom so much.
We're only 17 days into 2009, but I'm hoping that these small changes I'm making will lead to bigger ones that I'm able to stick with long-term.
