Good Weekend is Good!

Friday night The Boy came over and talked to me while I did dishes, put away laundry, then we shared a bottle of wine and watched a movie. Nobody tell him but quietly being domestic is the secret way to my heart. I also managed to badger him into agreeing to go skating with me some time. <3!

Saturday I went to skating class and was very, very annoyed by the presence of some older guy who was still struggling with swizzles and I was very "WTF? Swizzles? This guy has NO BUSINESS being in a Basic 2 class." Until I looked at my Pre-Bronze skills guide and realized that swizzles are in fact, Basic 2 and I was struggling with crossovers which are in fact, Basic 4. It's not exactly Johnny Weir's single axle after one week of skating but it's kind of nice to know that I have learned the equivalent of 12 classes in just 6.

After skating I tidied up the apartment more, took a glorious nap, and then me, jennerose, goblinqueenie and her man, and our other friends Rich, and Whitney went to Zilker Park to watch a free outdoor Pops concert. The weather was absolutely perfect and we even smuggled in a six pack for added musical appreciation. I am seriously digging so hard on outdoor picnicking lately. This is the ideal summer for it.

Sunday jennerose and I went for another practice and it was glorious. We stayed for an hour and a half and skated for at least an hour of it. There were only a dozen other people skating, and the ice stayed smooth for such a long time. I started trying Basic 6 stuff for the hell of it (I taught myself the basics of a T-Stop and started trying to pick up one leg on my basic little baby spin). We were sort of ridiculously gleeful about every little thing we got better at. I feel miles away from where I used to be. We both fell, too, which I'm actually happy about, because the more we do it the less we'll be scared of falling.

A word on skating and fitness: HOT DAMN is it a work out, my abs were killing me after Saturday's class and my glutes (read my ASS) is killing my after Sunday's practice. While I'm on the ice I hardly ever realize that I'm sweating. I get surprised every time my legs start shaking and refusing to hold me up because I don't realize that I'm exhausting them. Kate's shaved an inch off her torso and I'm FINALLY starting sculpt and actual ass instead of the sad, wide, flat thing I've been rocking since birth. (I thought I was gaining weight, but it's actually that things are starting to fit differently because I'm changing shape. SWEET!)

Skating, ilu.

After that it was some chores like laundry and grocery shopping and then I went over to a friend's house to celebrate his birthday and it was one of those night where you just feel great for even knowing someone at all. And this is BEFORE I started drinking.

That's pretty much the summary of the whole weekend: I am very blessed to know and to love the people that I do. There would be so much that I wouldn't do, or see, or feel if I was trying to go at life alone.

Anyway, came home to some interesting and embarrassing skating fandom drama, but managed to still be in bed by 11:59. Win! I'm also eating on plan today. Double win!

So A+ approved, weekend. I hope this week can live up to the standard you set.
