Dad had to get a new car because the old one had one problem too many, and he got a used beige jaguar. In appearance it is much like the one he had for much of my childhood that caused us a lot of stress and broke down once on the New York-Pennslyvania border leaving us stranded. Except I think it was made more recently(temp liscense tag says 1996), so probably has plastic instead of metal, so I may get carsick in it.
Saw the new Mansfield Park. Largely divergent from the book in both the plot and the character of Fanny, but ultimately no more than they had to be in our modern culture and a 90-minute time limit. Patricia Rozema making a statement it was not. Also used one of the same pieces of music as the 2005 Pride and Prejudice for a dance sequence, which may not have been the best idea; very distracting. I think I may replace my Austen icon sometime in the vague future.
At least there's now one less source of trouble in the world.
