And this is why I don't like people.

Earlier today, I get a PM through FFN from a user, who will remain nameless, stating that the numerous flames I received a while ago was a result of my work being used, without my permission, as part of a discussion panel at an anime convention. Finding this a bit weird (and EXTREMELY creepy), I asked for proof.

Holy. Crackers.

THIS is the collection of the slideshow presented. And THIS slide is where my RK fic, "Trifles," is mentioned.

I don't know whether to be somewhat flattered, that someone felt so passionately about my work that she just had to use it, or just violated that she used it without my permission.

I honestly don't give a shit if someone bashes my work; I'm strong, I can live with it. But what I DON'T like is being randomly flamed as a result of a stupid convention run by a bunch of idiots. It's irritating. Especially since I wasn't warned about it and for a while I was getting random flames for seemingly no reason.

I'm glad to know that there was an explanation for the flaming, but I'm just pissed off that people feel the need to act so high and mighty about something that's supposed to be for fun, ultimately. Yes, I agree that you should put a little thought into your writing and get facts straight, but the truth of the matter is that these works aren't getting published. This is a HOBBY.

Someone should tell this person to get a life beyond that of fanfiction.

To end on a happier note - I hope everyone had a good Chanukah (those who do celebrate it, that is) and I hope everyone else will have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
