Jaina had been to her office, trained, made calls home, cleaned her apartment, and all that meant that when she had more than five minutes without something to do, she was so bored she could cry.

Naturally this meant she went for the phone.

Are you half as bored as I am?

John wasn't exactly bored, but he wasn't sure hanging out with Jaina was a good idea.

Jaina had to think about this. There was no real scale of bored, and that was a shame.

Cleaned my apt once. Might do it again. Maybe twice. That bored.

He thought it was rather funny to offer to let Jaina of all people help him clean up his apartment. John knew she'd never go for it, thus the asking.

He underestimated her boredom.

Tell me you have cleaning stuff there.

Valid question, since the man didn't have tools.

He had tools now. There had been trips to the store since August. And his use of real cleaning supplies didn't stop John from sending back a sarcastic text.

That was a mental image. It also sort of amazed her that she could still read his texts even when he couldn't even manage proper grammar.

Now I need to see this. Be right there.

Okay, John wasn't sure how great an idea that was, but what the hell, it wasn't like he could avoid her forever. She worked at the only bar in town and had an office across the hall from his. He could suck up his issues and deal.

If you really wanted a measure of her boredom, she almost left before that text even came through. But almost wasn't good enough, and when she was able, knocked at his door with what she hoped was the right thing.

She didn't have to wait at the door long since he'd been expecting her arrival. "Towel?" John asked, blocking her entrance with his arm.

She held up a dishtowel in one hand and a rag in the other. "I'm really hoping one of these was what you meant," she said. Otherwise she had to wonder how the hell he cleaned.

"It'll do," he said, lifting his arms so she could duck under it. Because she was that short, yes.

"So you really want to help me clean my apartment?" Call him skeptical.

She gave him a teasing glare before ducking under his arm and stepping inside. "Why not? I have nothing better to do, and you making fun of how I clean might be entertaining for a while."

The door shut behind her and John smirked, "Have I ever seen you clean anything before?"

"Umm. I know you have seen me wash dishes," Jaina said, thinking back. He'd seemed surprised by it too, like washing and drying required higher brain functions. "Mostly I remember frowning if I left something on the floor instead of picking it up right away. Does that count?"

"Well, then we'll head back to the kitchen and you can wash more dishes," John decided, reaching to tug her along by the arm.

He hoped that wasn't against the unspoken rules.
