So I just got back from visiting Indiana with my family (sans Michael, who was doing college apps - He's growing up so fast!) and it was pretty epic. I barely had time to breathe, it felt like, but I had a great time. I got to catch up with Rachel and Jennifer, found out that Jennifer actually has a lot of cool friends that aren't invisible, went to my first college football game (I know, I held out for so long, too) which turned out to be utterly shameful (curse USC!) and finished Jennifer's birthday present, which was pretty awesome, even if it meant I was working at it like a madwoman at Jennifer's tailgating party.
Said tailgating party turned out rather successfully, I might add. Jennifer and Rachel even attempted to shotgun some beer, which was hilariously unsuccessful. Of course I spent the entirety of said party knitting and chatting and drinking beer (always knitting, alternating on the chatting and drinking beer. I know. Mad skills, I has them). I did finish her scarf before the game though. Finishing this scarf, however, meant I needed to go full court press on finding the yarn for her Christmas present because apparently the green I chose for her birthday present isn't ND enough. Jennifer wants a PoA style Harry Potter scarf, but in her school colors. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a worsted weight yarn that has both Kelly Green and Navy colorways? I didn't until this weekend. But I was victorious today! The yarn was more expensive than I would have liked, but the colors are absolutely perfect. So there.
But this weekend wasn't all tailgating and football games (thank goodness, considering how the game went). I slept over in Jen's dorm which was an experience. I never lived in a traditional dorm, so it was interesting to try it out. And when I say traditional, I mean this dorm is so old that they're not allowed to burn candles for fear that it will burn down in four minutes flat. Jennifer assures me that the four minutes thing is a lie, but still that place is definitely older than any of the dorms at UCLA. But a sleepover in Walsh Hall with my sisters was fun, even if I slept terribly due to the floor pad I had being rather... insufficient.
In any case, I'm home now, and exhausted. I also miss both my sisters even more. I'm seriously looking forward to Thanksgiving, and not just because Supi and I are planning an epic Merlin Drinking Game marathon.
