not forgetting

i just had an image in my head of myself forgetting to blog today if i did not do it now. so although i don't have much to say, i am here, reporting for duty.

it's turned out to be a busy work week, which is stressing me out a bit because i have a trip to pack for, and a husband with a broken car who has to go in to the office twice this week, and it just amounts to a lot of panic and logistical juggling to get everything done. however, i'm happy for the money, and happy to be going to texas, so i'm trying not to stress too much about all of it.

as i type, my kitchen knives are off in the land of sharpening, which is pretty exciting. i have been meaning to get them sharpened for about as long as i've had them, but never really got around to it. and the other night when we were discussing my birthday, eddie said he'd get them sharpened for me as a present. woo!

the sourdough starter came in the mail, and though i am attempting to rescussitate it, i have already messed things up a bit. i don't think it's beyond repair or anything, but i was supposed to feed it in 24 hour intervals and i may have waited more like 40 hours between these last two feedings. oops! it still smelled like sourdough when i went to mess with it just now and it seemed bubbly, which i am fairly certain is a good sign. so i fed it, and will take a look in a few hours to see how it's coming along. way to go, creepy inanimate pets. i think the starter's real trial for the day will be to survive ofelia's visit without getting accidentally washed down the drain.

on the slate for this afternoon/evening: walk the dog, take a shower, borrow mom's car, pick up knives, pick up clothes for nana at bloomingdale's, go to west l.a. bed and bath to get a new stool, take pictures of the olsen twins, pick mom up on my way home so that eddie and mom can watch dexter while i edit pictures of the olsen twins (hopefully on my laptop so i can at least sit in the room with them while they watch tv).

on an unrelated note, lcd tv's should really be built with stands that enable you to tilt them up and down. i have recently discovered that although there have been many advances in the viewable angles of an lcd from side to side, the up/down dimension is still sorely lacking in this department. if, for example, you put an lcd tv on a tall enough shelf that you can see it from bed without sitting up, the picture will be hopelessly dark from that angle and your only hope will be to shove a wedge of some sort under the back end of the stand to get it to tilt forward. or buy a new stand for it with a tilt function. both of these seem like lame options to me.
