I've decided to try my hand at making jewelry to earn a few extra bucks on the side. I'm going to be selling on
Etsy and it's been really fun researching vendors and coming up with ideas for the pieces I'm making--I do plan on eventually getting paid to do this after all.
For the last 3 weeks I've been making Excel spreadsheets outlining all the quantities and prices of the materials I need. Every piece I'm making has been planned down to the last
jump ring. How cool is it to be able to apply what I've learned in school to a real-life situation? Very, very cool.
Today, I ordered all my supplies (and was finally able to fill out my 'purchases' spreadsheet, wooo!) and I also came up with an illustration to use for my banner logo on Etsy:
Isn't she fierce?? My Etsy name is MechanteFille ("mean girl") so I needed an appropriately sassy image. I think she fits the bill. This is hand drawn in Photoshop using my old-school drawing tablet (bought it in 2001 and it's still going strong!). The bird and flowers are free vector images from the net.
I cannot wait for my stuff to arrive. I'm already itching to get started!
