There's a very good reason why I don't like to socialize. It's really hard for me to find anyone with a basic level of intelligence.
And nowhere is it harder to find than on a college campus. Barack Obama may have been falsely accused of being an elitist, but I wear my elitism proudly on my sleeve. Being in college has made me realize that most people are idiots.
Right now, I'm working on a term paper that I had to complete with a randomly assigned partner. I knew the person I partnered with would probably be an idiot and I was right. How did I know? a) Law of averages. b) Experience. c) Cynicism. d) all of the above.
This is the abstract she wrote to go with our paper:
The Wear Test project was a test conducted to measure the ability of C9 by Champion brand’s Women's Low-Cut Socks to meet the consumer needs and expectations of its target market. So over the course of four weeks, the observers were to wear the socks while completing normal day to day activities and on Wednesdays all socks were collected for washing.
Again, the scope of the project was to evaluate the textile properties and affected characteristics of the socks overall performance and serviceability.
The experiment was conducted by evaluating changes in the width and length which compose the dimensional stability of the sock, and also the color staining of the socks.
The results were predictable and the most common problem were the piling, it seemed to be the most difficult to avoid, one of the wearers observed almost 400 piling(s) on their socks.
What kind of fuckery is this? This is a girl who graduated high school and THIS is what she calls an abstract?
I'm pretty sure I'm going to scrap 95% of what she wrote and do the abstract over, but just for the hell of it, I made some basic corrections:
The W wear T test project was a test conducted to measure the ability of C9 by Champion brand’s Women's Low-Cut Socks to meet the consumer needs and expectations of its target market. So Over the course of four weeks, the observers were to wear the socks while completing normal day to day activities and on Wednesdays all socks were collected for washing.
Again, the scope of the project was to evaluate the textile properties and affected characteristics of the socks overall performance and serviceability. why is this sentence here?
The experiment was conducted by evaluating changes in the width and length which compose the dimensional stability of the sock, and also the color staining of the socks.
The results were predictable and the most common problem were was the piling, it which seemed to be the most difficult to avoid. One of the wearers evaluators observed almost 400 piling(s) on their socks. what other conclusions were made based on the results?
And just so there's no confusion about what I'm up against, here's the works cited she gave me:
• Hatch, Kathryn L. (June 2006). Textile Science. In W. M. Teller (Rev. Ed.),Textile Materials and Their Performance. (pp. 2-6). Apex, NC: Tailored Text Custom Publishing. (Original work published 1993)
• Champion Socks. (2007). Retrieved April 20,2008, from www.C9byChampion.com.
• Roger D. Blackwell, Paul W. Miniard, James F. Engel. (2006). Textbook on the behaviors of consumers when making purchases, evaluates consumer decisions and the affects of marketing tools on the consumer. Consumer Behavior, (10th Ed.). Canada. Thomson Southwestern.
She used bullets.
Bullets on a works cited. AND the bolded part in the third reference is not part of the title of that book. It's a description.
A description of a book that I used to type MY part of the paper, i.e., a book she's never seen before, but decided to add a description of to our fucking works cited.
To think that I was actually beating myself up for slacking off on writing my part of the paper. I was fully prepared to spend all day here in the 24 hour computer lab finishing everything as a result. Now I'm wondering how long its going to take me to fix her part of this paper as well as mine.
I knew I was going to do some heavy editing to her part, because I'm kind of picky about my written work, but damn.
I was NOT expecting this.
I'm going to be doing well into the early morning hours if I want it done by the 9 am deadline.
people suck,
school sucks
