Don't you hate it when you find out one of your favorite songs was sampled from another artist? Not only does it make you feel ignorant, but it makes you feel cheated.
I've been on a jazz kick lately. So, during my downloading adventures, I discovered that one of my all time favorite "old school" jams, Rain (iTunes) by SWV is sampled from Portrait of Tracy (iTunes) by Jaco Pastorius, released in 197-fucking-6.
You can't hear it in the iTunes sample, but the entire melody of Rain is based off of 12 notes of Portrait of Tracy.
I s'pose this won't cause me to stop listening to Rain when I'm on one of my 90's R&B kicks, but still. It's a little heartbreaking for me =[
