So this weekend has been pretty fun.
Friday night Casey invited me to go see State of LA Danse at ULL with him. Its their dance concert. I was actually pretty excited about this. Doing something not in the main stream of things, you know? The concert consisted of 6 (Maybe 8) numbers. It was ballet, lyrical, and modern dance. It also had students from Tulane performing in it. First dance was a ballet with a Chinese theme. It was interesting, not my favorite, but not my least favorite either. I had to ask though, "Are they mocking me?!" The next number done by two dancers from Tulane was complete LST. I am not kidding. It was a lyrical number with two girls. It was pretty easy to follow. The girls would basically break up, get back together, break up, wanna get back together, fight some more, push each other away, one would come crawling back. It ended with one being completely heart broken and the other finally left her standing alone on the stage. It was HOT. Actually a very moving piece. I couldn't take my eyes off of them the whole time. Probably because it was the L word in dance playing on the stage. But the dancers were also very good and believable. (We honestly thought one of them was definetly a lesbian.) The third number...well... It was a modern number. Lots of things going on onstage, really crazy music. I wanted to say it was about drug use and addiction, Casey said it he thought it was about Iraq. I think he was just guessing as much as I was. The title of this one was "Unspoken Narrative". We decided, as Casey said, "Maybe someone should have spoken." The lady next to us agreed. After intermission there was another lyrical number. With two girls again. (Are we starting to see a theme?) It was called "Descent" again, a little hard to interpret.. but again some definate lesbian undertones. I think this one was done by Tulane students as well. Then there was a guest professional dancer who did another modern number. She was pretty damn good, but I figured out here that I was not a huge fan of modern dance. I also wanted her stomach muscles. Pilates was definately her friend. A modern dance duet was next, this time with a guy and a girl.. shocking. Again, didn't like the "music" but their moves were pretty good. Next is a semi-modern, semi-lyrical, something or other. I am pretty sure it was choreographed by the Tulane girls. So, can you guess what the theme was? Thats right! Lesbianism. I kid you not. It consisted of three songe. First: "Shoop" by TLC. The girls are still straight in this one and wearing various horrible blonde wigs. The next song was a little more punk. Girls started whipping off their wigs and I guess "becoming themselves". That where the hooking up started to happen. It started to look like another night at L (or any lesbian bar for that matter) There were girls dancing alone, some swaying off to the side, girls hooking up, then switching partners. This lead into another song, much slower, where I in my head took place after the bar. Completely gay, gay, gay. I was just waiting for the light technicians to display some sort of U-Haul icon. That would have made it complete. Now I don't know if I was biased, being a lesbian or not and reading way too much into it. But after reflection I decided when there are girls practially making out and humping each other on stage the theme of the night is Lesbianism. Casey, being the big mo that he is, saw it all too. I just wonder if the straight people saw the same things we did.
We then leave and decide to go to Taco Bell. I literally had to drive around 3 times to find a spot to park. Apparently Taco Bell is the new hot spot. Well finally I find a parking spot.. we go in start to eat. Well behind us there are two sorority type girls and one is telling a story to the other about some tragic argument.
Girl one: Well I was like, "Fuck you, whatever, whatever."
Girl two: nodding in complete and astonished agreement
Girl one: Then I like told her where to go, whatever, whatever.
Girl two: same thing
Well Casey and I then start to make fun of them and kind of phase out for a second.
We both tune it at this part.
Girl one: Well I thought everybody played the same. I mean don't you? So she got all up in my face again. And I'm like "ITS TWISTER". Then she, like, started yelling at me. And I am like. (I'm not kidding) *uses pointer fingers to outline the gentle falling of two tears.* Then I ran to the kitchen and I am all like tearing.. and she gets in my face again.
We are now choking on our tacos. The way this girl was telling the story you would have thought a game night gone bad was just as bad at world famine. We couldn't tell if the other girl (Who never got a chance to speak) was just feigning complete intrest, or was really that into it....
We then went out to the bar and nothing spectacualar happened there. Ran into a friend I have been trying to get ahold of.. but nothing fantastic. Left brought Casey back to his car and went home.
Saturday, I got a kitty! He is black and white, weighs about half a pound and is named Baxter. I love him.
Saturday night was my Grandfathers 90th birthday party. Went to have dinner with the fam. Fun, but nothing too terribly exciting. Came home and crashed.
Today, not much going on.
I'm tired of typing.
If you made it through this whole thing, you get a cookie.
