I'M AN "AUNT FAVE"!!!
Wednesday, March 14th at 1:06 pm...my best friend Sarah Rose Reppucci Thomas gave birth to Phoebe Kate Thomas (my "little bean"). I got to spend the day at the hospital and it was, quite frankly, one of the most incredible experiences of my life! here's a glimpse:
i got to the hospital at 11:30 am and spent some good quality quiet time with michael and a still pregnant sarah. i am so grateful for that hang-out time...we got to visit and catch up and then just sit (priceless)...all while listening to little phoebe's heartbeat!
around 12ish the grandparents got back from the cafeteria and i got to spend family time with sarah and michael until the nurse kicked us out of the room because IT WAS TIME. (around 12:30)
mama and papa pucci are like parents to me & being able to comfort papa pucci while we walked to the waiting room is a blessing beyond description. we (me, papa pucci, and the thomases) waited impatiently for news of something...anything...
1:20ish michael thomas (now a daddy) came sprinting into the waiting room with a huge grin on his face to announce little phoebe's arrival. i got to congratulate him and hug him & i was not ashamed of my tears of joy. he left and came back with a camera where we all got our first glimpse of our new miracle.
we waited in the hallway until about 2:30 when we could get back into the room...
this time there was a new little person to pay attention to. we got to ooh & aah at her while she warmed up on the nifty little bed made especially for new babies. then we watched her get bathed and dolled up until she finally ended up back in michael & sarah's arms.
i'm telling you...watching your two best friends holding their new baby is an emotional experience to say the least. and then to see michael reach over sarah holding the baby to wipe away her tears...i almost lost it.
THEN the little bean got passed around between grandparents who soaked up every minute of it. it was wonderful to watch...better than t.v. for sure.
4ish blake got to the hospital and was welcomed as "uncle gus" for the first time. after he got there i finally got to hold the baby and it was indescribable. i almost felt as if i were melting or floating or something...no matter how you say it, i was in love! we are bonded, phoebe & i, and that won't change.
anyway, we left the hospital around 6 (we had to wait out the traffic) emotionally drained but glowing and proud (i told the parking attendant that my best friends had just had a baby and she was beautiful...ain't no shame in aunt fave's game)
we had dinner at zapopan and the minute i sat down in the familiar old booth i totally decompressed...it was almost as if i were home. LOL.
anyway, just wanted to describe the sort of heaven i have been blessed with the last couple of days. AND i get to see them all over again next week when i am in bham.
what did we do thursday? well, i spent the day with margot & had an eventful time at the hair salon (more to come later) & then blake and i spent the night at his parent's house in sylacauga. brats, wine, and television in comfy clothes....can't beat that.
today i have been productive by dropping off my resumes at schools in town. yay me.
