God bless yoga and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Last night I came home in a yucky funk. I was sad, tired and generally full of 'blech'. Only two things lifted me from that pitiful state and brought me to the current level of contentment that I now enjoy:

1) Yoga
2) The movie Young Sherlock Holmes

It's worth noting that they did not occur in that order. James was just watching TV when I got home and I settled next to him, grumpy as could be. In the course of flipping channels we came upon this movie (made in, like, 1985) and my immediate thought was, "Oh no! This is going to suck! Young Sherlock Holmes?! What kind of crack are these people smoking?"

The fact that the movie description said: "Sherlock Holmes and Watson, school mates, investigate curious murders and uncover a group of dangerous cultists." did not help things

Missa = *gag*

But James made me watch it anyway. And you know what? It ROCKED! I had thought it was going to be a shallow parody of something wonderful (like Cinderella 2) but it turned out to be not only an homage to the original stories, but almost an improvement upon them. I sat riveted for all 2 hours of that movie, giggling madly and felt significantly better afterwards.

Then I went to yoga class and stretched and pulled and breathed for nearly 2 hours and came home in a kind of controlled-breathing haze. Even the fact that there was a notice of jury duty waiting for me when I got home didn't bother me...

It was a beautiful thing. It made me want to dig out my collection of Sherlock Holmes books...
