soo, big news -
Aaron and I have been looking at places and have been considering moving in with each other if we found a place that felt right. Well, we found a place that feels right in SE MPLS. It's just a few blocks from the lightrail, really close to shopping (including united noodle)....AND ITS A HOUSE. AN ENTIRE HOUSE. WITH A HUGE YARD!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a 2BR/1BA bungalow that was built in 1919, and it's awesome. It has some great little features like a flip down tv in the kitchen, a full basement (for winter gardening & music!), the bathroom was tiled like a NYC subway, and best of all......the owners love vintage furniture. They have some to spare, so they said they'd let us use it. It has a detached garage with a huge enclosed patio on it. The patio has a great 3-seat white 60s lounger & 2 chairs, and a 1950's Formica kitchen table and swag lamp. Oh, did I mention a mini beer fridge is included, too? Oh, and a snow blower, lawn mower, tons of garden tools, huge dehumidifier and 2 A/C units?
The downside is is that the kitchen is pretty small (but still larger than my current kitchen) and so is the bathroom. This means I will finally be able to fulfill my dream of making a simple, girly vanity.
I am very excited over this whole situation. The owner is awesome and straight up said to us, "you guys are it". I'm hoping we'll be signing in a few days. After all the bullshit i've had to go through with my current property manager, this is a more than welcome change. I've been looking to settle down and live somewhere for more than a year. I've lived in 4 places in the last 5 years. I want to be able to stay long enough to feel like painting a room would be worth it. I think this is it. I'm looking forward to moving in with my boyfriend and making life easier for us both. We'll be able to take the train downtown to work every day instead of having to find parking in a lot and dealing with traffic. and shit, I think i'll be able to get cable again! No more streaming mad men and my shitty vh1 shows! Yes, I am excited for both of us and all the opportunities this will bring. We are going to have a huge house warming party when we move in.
OH AND I'M SO GOING TO PLANT A SHITLOAD OF BULBS!! I didn't notice a lot of squirrels in the neighborhood, so I won't have to worry about them burgling them.
Looking at my situation, this is the happiest I've been in years. My job rules, my relationship is awesome, I go out and do stuff, I work hard, my dog is adorable.....and I'm about to move into a great place. It's kinda weird to say, but I'm pretty freaking happy.
