quick update in dots!

• I am becoming slightly concerned over some people on my f-list not having updated for a while. Some of you guys seem to have disappeared! I know Steph is probably in her new place dying of no-internet-ness, but I have had scarce comments from everyone but a couple of you lately. If you are around/reading do let me know.
  
• On second thoughts, maybe I am just boring?! Yes, I am going to phrase that as a question.
  
• On Tuesday I went out with Mum and my friend Heather to the movie and we wound up seeing Watchmen (because it was either that or Confessions of a Shopaholic). I didn't have high hopes for it but it was actually AWESOME. I think it's one of those movies everyone should follow the pack and see, in the same vein as The Dark Knight, because it's superbly done. Though I'll admit I loved the cinematography and the soundtrack more than the story. Despite people saying knowledge of the graphic novel canon doesn't matter in regards to seeing this movie, it actually does because I was a bit muddled by the end. I think it lagged in parts a little, as well. But the flashbacks were really seamless and all the characters were stellar. I think the Dr Manhatten background details were my favourite bits. It's totally worth your overpriced ticket. And if nothing else, it makes you want to read the graphic novel, so that's something. I think I will ask for it for my birthday.
  
• I just finished writing my first uni essay. I feel all scholarly now with my Word 2007 and my red pen corrections and my Chicago Manual of Style and my left margins at 3cm.
  
• Austalian "So You Think You Can Dance" totally used a Counting Crows song for one of the routines last week. Of course, it was "Mr Jones", one of CC's two major hits in the twenty years they've been a band, but still, it was nice publicity! Not that anyone can get tickets to the show I'm going to cause it's SOLD OUT. If you can't tell I am excited. COUNTING CROWS DAYS AFTER TOMORROW!
  
• Speaking of, I will take a camera phone picture of the stage and some regular pictures of wherever we (my mum and my friend Laura) have dinner beforehand, but I'm not risking any actual pics of the band/stage because it's my mum's camera and I don't want it confiscated.
  
• Contrasts at my uni: the student association is planning two student tours this year: one to China (Hong Kong and Shanghai) and one Holy Tour including stops in Cairo, Jerusalem, Nazareth, Bethlehem and Jericho. Heh. I am keeping the China tour in mind in case I suddenly come upon a spare $4000 in my daily travels. I am somewhat concerned for all the people going on the Holy Tour because it goes right through, er, warzones lol.
  
• House: OMG they brought back Wilson's hobo brother! I always wondered when they'd bring him back. I wonder who he's going to be played by. Probably someone with similarly awesome eyebrows.
  
• I watched Monday's ep of Ellen last night and Noah Wyle was on and I knew she'd make him recite that medical bit from the pilot that he never forgot. It's like an ER fan nerd in-joke, that bit. And then they gave him his framed medical jacket and he teared and it was SADDER THAN DR GREENE DYING. I'm also inwardly jumping up and down through my sadness at Doug and Carol's happy ending finally being established upon their return. Squee!
  
• Ellen and Portia DeGenerossi are my favorite lesbians.
  
• I am not looking forward to my upcoming 1800 word drama essay, only because comparing ancient Greek theater/old comedy to ancient Rome's theater/new comedy is going to be confusing.
  
• I am skipping yoga class tomorrow but I will go next week.
  
• I shall be back on the weekend to tell you of the Counting Crows! Whee!
