Thoguht I should give y'all an update before I venture into nudge-able territory. Still waiting for people to get some more answers on the
movie meme, just FYI. And don't forget to check
_drivingblind everyone once in awhile either!
Anyway, so in anticipation of Wedding Crashers coming out on DVD in Feb, I've been aiming to try and watch every move Rachel McAdams has made, so this week I rented/saw Mean Girls and The Notebook.
Mean Girls, I thought, was always some cheap tacky teeny movie, and in all honesty, it kinda was. The plot didn't make sense in parts, and all the characters were very extreme - overdramatised and stereotypical. Still, it was fun, and had a lot of good messages should you look beyond all the appearances on the surface. And Rachel's really good in it. She had the role down to a T, and it was also odd to see Amanda Siegfrid as someone other than Lilly Kane. I'm so used to her being Lilly that everytime she was on screen I was sayng silently "Is this a flashback?" LOL
As for The Notebook, such a nice, emotive, complicated little film. I like how they didn't gloss anything over, it was all very raw and real. There were some scenes they probably would have cut if it were any other movie, but fit really well in how they made it and probably with the book as well. It could have been a really overdone film about cultrue clashes, but in the end the parents weren't the backbone of why they seperated. They just had to because the summer was over. I adored how when she had to choose between Noah and Lon she told Noah that there is no easy way out of this - it's like something I'd write in Affair Story XD. Anyway, it didn't fully live up to my expectations, but it's such a beautiful film and Rachel is gorgeous as a redhead. She's almost unrecognizable when you compare Allie to Regina, and these movies were made pretty close together.
For the record, I now need to see Red Eye, The Hot Chick (*cringe*) and the Family Stone, and that's it, so far.
The plot bunnies hit me last night with some more scenes and dialogue for another story I'm planning. It's not gonna be a continuing - probably jsut a one shot - but I think it's gonna be at least 4000 words long. Which BTW isn't that long as short stories can be up to 10,000 words long and still considered short. Anyway, it's probably gonna be set in Paris. Cliche, I know, but I've been there and it's nothing like you see in the movies. It's achingly raw instead.
Anyway, this week, I'm having a doctors appointment for me ears, a haircut, and the big trip to Officeworks to buy school supplies. For school, week after next.
Fun fun fun.
