rl: congratulate me
I've just decided when I get good/bad news in my email, I'm just going to share it with you all, k? It will be my new "thing".
So a while back, as a requirement for my Journalism class, I submitted an article and a poem to Avant, my TAFE's yearly writing anthology. Basically the publishing class takes in writing submissions from people in the course, reads them, votes on which pieces should be included and then creates an actual book from them. It's a local thing so it's only sold at bookstores in the Box Hill area, but still a big deal. Email I got yesterday:
Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that your piece, “Honey Dripping” has been accepted into the 2008 edition of Avant...We will edit your piece for house style and other refinements, then email you a copy for your approval before we go to press in October. We look forward to working with you.
So I'm technically getting published. YAY! The poem in question is here, though it's undergone a minor edit or two since I first posted it. Highlight of my lame-ass week, you guys!
Also, a meme in case any of you are as bored as me:
1) Comment with a request to see absolutely anything on my computer. My desktop, my documents, my bookmarks, my latest works in progress, my iTunes. Whatever you're curious about, request!
2) I will post a new entry with screenshots of the things you request.
