Just wanted to very quickly pimp out some WGA strike related links/news since it's been officially on for two days now:
-The main comm for keeping up with strike news would probably be
wga_supporters-An official Youtube channel has been set up,
WGA America, with some really interesting videos from the picket lines.
-A whole load of actors/Screen Actor's Guild members have joined the picket lines in support of the writers.
-Notable shows that have already ceased production include Desperate Housewives (who apparentally work on a slower schedule and have only shot up to episode 9), Two And A Half Men and The Office (details from one of the crew members
here).
-There was some confusion as to whether animated shows such as American animes would be affected, however it's been reported only King Of The Hill, Simpsons and Family Guy/American Dad will be affected (with other animated shows falling under the Animation Guild as opposed to the WGA).
-SAG's legal people have apparentally suggested that actors join the picket lines in their free time in support of the strike.
Oh yeah, and as Steph pointed out, you've probably noticed daily shows like Conan are already gone. I hope I'm not annoying anyone by posting about this but wow, this is full on stuff. And this could very well continue on for months.
wga_supporters pointed out that since most shows have enough material to air for a while, this strike won't technically shut down Hollywood completely until the SAG and Director's Guild contracts expire, which is June 30th D: Crazy stuff.
K, promise my next entry won't be entirely strike related! I am boring lately, I know.
